What It Is

Blondage High Bright Pre-Treatment is a pre-shampoo and step #1 of a full haircare system that answers to blondes who lose lightness and brightness in the weeks between salon visits. This pre-shampoo is step #1 of a full brightening regimen powered by Vitamin C and Redken's Brightening Care Complex, which keeps blondes light and brightens up hair instantly when using the entire Blondage High Bright regimen.

What It Does

Blondage High Bright Pre-Treatment treats hair with chelating agents to prep and clarify before shampooing. Its Vitamin C composition is known for its brightening benefits in skincare and brightens hair that has dulled, darkened, or mattified due to dulling agents and pollution. This system is formulated with chelators for instant results and lightweight finish for a non-drying look & feel.

What Else You Need to Know

Using the entire High Bright system will provide a brighter blonde instantly. This pre-treatment or pre-shampoo is for blondes looking to brighten and lighten hair. What is the difference between Redken's Blondage Core and Blondage High Bright? I’m not entirely sure what it does to be honest, or what the difference is with just using the shampoo and conditioner alone. While I don’t think these products brighten or remove brassiness in my hair like a purple shampoo would, I did feel that my hair was brighter over time! It’s not as much of an immediate effect as a purple based product in my opinion. But my hair was brighter and SO soft! I would definitely buy these products again, especially this treatment!! Definitely my favorite product out of the bunch and would pair it with different shampoos and conditioners as well!!

I can't say that it really did much for my hair as fair as helping it become less brassy. I do enjoy the smell of the product and the texture of it. It is a little bit time consuming to use if you're short on time. I think if this product had violet tones in it then it would be a lot better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad Yes, this did lighten my hair a tad…however the instructions for this is to apply to damp hair and let sit 5-10 minutes and not to rinse out before shampooing. The problem with this is that it is super hard to shampoo your hair only being damp and not wet, and I don’t normally have time just let it sit on my hair for in the shower. So, I honestly wouldn’t use very often unless I had the time and patience for it! Also has a slight chemical smell.

I want to start by saying that I really like this concept, but for people with hair that dries FAST you have to make sure your hair is a little more than damp! The first time I used it, my hair was almost dry in the 15 minute wait. That being said, it really helps with lightening and brightening your blonde! It's a great product for between the salon!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not understand this product I am generally a fan of Redken products, but unfortunately, not this one. First of all, I didn't understand the packaging. If you are supposed to saturate your hair with this product, a spray is definitely not the best choice. I'd say a pump would work much better. I ended up unscrewing and just pouring on my palm and then distributing. Secondly, this thing was supposed to remove residue and brighten the blond color. I have a semi-permanent toner that gradually fades on its own, and I thought this would help me speed up this process. I did notice the hair go brighter but not to the extent I was expecting.  Again, it would gradually fade on its own, so I guess it increased the speed of brightening by, say 25%. It also tends to dry my hair (in conjunction with shampoo and conditioner). To sum up, I'd say if you want to visibly improve your color there are products out there that can do it in one use. They will be harsher, but the result will also be immediate.

I’m not sure if I have noticed any different in my hair color, but I also may need to use it for a longer period of time. Also there is no direction on where the product should be targeted (roots, ends, all over, etc.) and the stray is pretty sharp so it’s hard to get all over your head.

One thing I didn’t like was you had to spray it on your hair (and leave on 5-10 minutes) before shampooing. I’m glad I looked at The directions before use, because I thought it was going to be a leave in treatment. I can’t say that I feel it has made my blonde any brighter, but my hair does FEEL nice, after using the system together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The spray isn’t great After one use with the whole line, my hair already looked lighter. I love the idea of a pre treatment but the spray makes it so hard. First you have to apply it when you hair is damp, which makes it hard knowing where the product is applied and where it isn’t applied. Second, the spray just doesn’t spray very well. If I used it again I would spray it in my hand and then run it through my hair to make sure it’s worked into my hair good enough. I wish the spray was better or the bottle was reformulated into a regular bottle where you can squeeze the product out. That would be a lot easier.

When using the three step system my hair felt amazingly soft and it most definitely makes the blonde appear ‘brighter’ - and glossy! The spray is a little hard to apply with the nozzle that’s on the spray bottle. I found it easier to spray into my hand and just spread the product with my fingers. I can definitely recommend this product if you plan on following the three step system! The only downside for me was the smell.
