What It Does

Color Gels 10 Min. is designed to give stylists fast coverage and full control.

What Else You Need to Know

• Color Gels 10 Min. comes in full coverage shades, each with a 1:1 shade match with original Color Gels Lacquers (no banding when switching between formulas).  

• Color Gels 10 Min. is compatible with Redken Pro-Oxide Cream Developer in 20 volume.  

• Color Gels 10 Min. is designed to cover less than 1 inch / up to 2 months of regrowth.  

• For clients with more regrowth or for virgin applications, we recommend using original Color Gels Lacquers.

1. Mix 1 oz. Color Gels Lacquers 10 Minute shade with 1 oz. 20 Volume Pro-Oxide Cream Developer. Adjust quantity of color and developer as needed while maintaining 1:1 mixing ratio.

2. When mixed, the formula will react with the developer, so apply promptly to the hair.

3. Process for 10 minutes. Rinse color using preferred Redken shampoo and conditioner.

4. Smart Pause Technology will help stop pigment from depositing 10 minutes after being mixed with the developer. We recommend removing color from hair within 15 minutes.

 

For stylists who do slower applications we recommend the following four tips: 

1. Apply the color on hair with higher percentage of white first. 

2. If you take 10 minutes to apply, only process the color for 5 minutes after complete application. 

3. Apply color in quadrants. Begin at the nape and work from the back two quadrants to the front two quadrants. Once the back quadrants are complete, set your timer for 10 minutes and then continue with the application of the front two quadrants. The difference between the two quadrants will be 5 minutes but each half of the head will be processed for 10 minutes. This will ensure a more uniform end color result. 

4. Apply Color Gels Lacquers 10 Minute with a bottle. Its liquid formula allows for express application.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 10 min color gels I was very excited to see after all this time Redken came out with 10 min gray coverage only to be disappointed. I purchased the Zero Time brush set to speed up my application because these shades pull a FULL 1-2 levels darker than they are marked. 100% would not recommend trying to do with foil highlights because the timing is impossible. I hoped that with Redken taking sooo long these would really blow me away and they have not. Doing a single shade root touch up is ok but I still feel the color take unevenly and I don't like switching between regular gel lacquers for highlight apts and these on just root touch ups, the color is inconsistent. I would hands down recommend Kenra 10 min. color over this. They are true to swatch, cover gray 100% and don't continue to process past target level so you are able to also do highlights safely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for clients who need a touch up.. but, I really enjoy offering this service for JUST a root touch up. I was told that I could use this after foiling to cover gray in between foils and speed up the process and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT DOING THAT. Because of the consistency, and the foils you can have bleed marks. Tried that one time, and still can not get the color to lift back out easily. I have collectively lost about 7 hours of making money to fix this issue.

I like it, it works most of the time. But sometimes it can really be an inconvenience having to redo especially trying to make a lunchtime service color service!

We have a guest in our salon that has a lot of anxiety and is not comfortable being in the salon for A lengthy service. Rated 5 out of 5 by from first impressions My clients regular formula is Matrix Socolor 505N and 506N equal parts. So I chose the 6NN to try. I set the 10 min timer as soon as I mixed. I used a bottle to be able to apply faster and was able to apply to all the roots in 5 min. And 5 min later we were rinsing. It blended very well with her color. But it was definitely lighter than the swatch shows it to be

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick Fix! Do not mistake this for a full color service. It was good in a pinch and lasted about 8 days before the pigment faded into a stain. Others have said it is a shade darker but that was not my experience. I’m 100% gray and I use a level 5NN with a shot of 4NG regular Color Gel and in this 10 Minute I used the 6NN. Next time I’m going to use the 5N. Over all for my personal use I liked having a quick fix that got me through to my next touch up but I’d be less likely to use this on a client as I don’t think its fair to charge them for a full color service since the pigment doesn’t last and to charge less isn’t worth my time.

I tried 4NN 10 minute color on my most resistant client. It worked like a charm. Complete solid coverage in only 10 minutes. I am sold. I am glad many more colors have been added. I will be purchasing.

Not only does it go on like the classic color gels it honestly is done processing in 10 minutes! I will say it does end up being about a half shade darker so just be aware of that. Overall I absolutely love this product so far and hope for more colors!

I used it on my client of 6 years and unfortunately she was not happy at all and I am going to have to do a color correction to fix it. (Super embarrassing and not great timing for the holiday season) Now that I know that it’s a shade or two darker I’ll be using it on my other color clients who have 50% Grey or more that want 100% coverage in darker levels. I hope they change the bottle label because it looks to similar to the regular bottle and can be very easily mistaken. It’s a great product if you are aware of the color difference.

I found if I used a 4NN in regular gels I need to use a 4Nn in 10 min. Please change packaging as it’s easy to mix them up with regular color gels. Coverage was good but not perfect.

I used it on one of my weekly clients who doesn’t plan ahead and also on a base retouch with highlights client and it saved me the extra time of her processing twice. I’m sold!
