What It Does

What Else You Need to Know

• Color Gels 10 Min. comes in full coverage shades, each with a 1:1 shade match with original Color Gels Lacquers (no banding when switching between formulas).  

• Color Gels 10 Min. is compatible with Redken Pro-Oxide Cream Developer in 20 volume.  

• Color Gels 10 Min. is designed to cover less than 1 inch / up to 2 months of regrowth.  

• For clients with more regrowth or for virgin applications, we recommend using original Color Gels Lacquers.

1. Mix 1 oz. Color Gels Lacquers 10 Minute shade with 1 oz. 20 Volume Pro-Oxide Cream Developer. Adjust quantity of color and developer as needed while maintaining 1:1 mixing ratio.

2. When mixed, the formula will react with the developer, so apply promptly to the hair.

3. Process for 10 minutes. Rinse color using preferred Redken shampoo and conditioner.

4. Smart Pause Technology will help stop pigment from depositing 10 minutes after being mixed with the developer. We recommend removing color from hair within 15 minutes.

 

For stylists who do slower applications we recommend the following four tips: 

1. Apply the color on hair with higher percentage of white first. 

2. If you take 10 minutes to apply, only process the color for 5 minutes after complete application. 

3. Apply color in quadrants. Begin at the nape and work from the back two quadrants to the front two quadrants. Once the back quadrants are complete, set your timer for 10 minutes and then continue with the application of the front two quadrants. The difference between the two quadrants will be 5 minutes but each half of the head will be processed for 10 minutes. This will ensure a more uniform end color result. 

4. Apply Color Gels Lacquers 10 Minute with a bottle. Its liquid formula allows for express application.

Only downside is it can go dark so I would recommend going 1/2-1 shade lighter than usual! Other than that works just like the gels but wayyyyy faster!!

I use this as an in between full colors and my clients can feel more confident longer as they come in at 4 weeks and get the 10 minute coverage being in and out within an hour if not less and they can go another 4 weeks until we add in everything else. Such an amazing express service to add to your menu!

I do think they come out a little on the darker side and can def stain pre-lightened ends so I apples a deep conditioner on the ends first. Great product for clients who don’t like to sit long.

I have always loved Redken and this color does not disappoint. It has a rich cool tone. I will definitely be using this color again and will recommend it to others.

I just leave it on an extra couple of minutes just to make sure the grays are covered. I would highly recommend this 10 minute gel color and the Redken 20 volume peroxide because it really works as advertised.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quick color is convenient, but not for everyone. They appear 1 1/2 - 2 shades darker. You need to leave them on about 12-15 min so they they will cover 100%. Be careful because they stain pretty easy. I have also noticed that they tend to fade warm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unfortunately met my expectations It's truly hit or miss! The difference is all in saturation and unfortunately timing. I have only used the 8NA with 20vol, I tried mixing it 2:1 (more developer) and on wet hair to give more of a gray blending effect and unfortunately this color gets as dark as a level 6 if you are not careful! I have used the 8NA maybe 6 times or so and only was happy 1/2 the time. Sorry to say, when I run out I will be looking for an alternative express gray coverage that is truly a level 8!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SUPER DARK Every time I have used this the color on multiple clients and each time it goes much much darker than the original level it should end at. I have even gone up to a level 8 and it still reads darker than a 6 if you truly only leave it on for 10 minutes then it’s not a full coverage (for white hair) It’s still translucent which meant I had to redo the process to fix it. If you want to risk leaving it on longer you’ll get better coverage but you’ll end up with much darker hair. Example: Level 6 client I mixed 6N and 8N left it on for 15min it covered pretty well but left her super dark almost a level 5N so honestly I’d rather use the regular gels and process it for an extra ten minutes than worrying about what level this will end at and if it will even cover the white completely.
