What It Is

Design Essentials Silk Essentials Strengthening Serum is a lightweight strengthening and smoothing serum that easily penetrates the cuticle and locks in moisture during heat styling, leaving hair shiny and full of body.

What It Does

• Improves hair manageability while imparting shine and a high-gloss finish

• Gentle lightweight formula is perfect for all hair types (can be used wet or dry)

• Protects from damage during heat styling

1. Place a few small drops of Silk Essentials onto palms and emulsify.

2. Apply to hair (wet or dry) from ends to scalp.

It didn’t make my hair super oily or heavy and smells amazing! I have finer hair so I’m super picky when it comes to serums. Also I used on a client with thicker course curly hair and it worked great too. The serum is versatile for multiple hair textures! I really like this design essentials brand! I will be purchasing this moving forward!

I think this serum would be better for those relaxed or silk press their hair. This didn’t do anything for my clients curls.

Clear, thick, great quality and designed for use on wet or dry hair to smooth, add shine and defeat frizz. I use on wet hair before blow or air drying to combat any kind of poof added by the natural humidity in the Tennessee Valley. The size is perfect for travel and adding this to the VoxBox really rounded out addressing all curl concerns anyone might have. I needed this and I dig it thoroughly.

A little goes a long way for me and it does add a nice shine and moisture to the hair shaft. It smells just like dial hand soap which is a tad odd but not terrible. It sinks right into the hair and doesn’t look greasy. I have not tried it when heat styling as it doesn’t have any protective claims and my hair is already fragile as is. Over it’s a nice product!

Both of us use a serum daily for years and have tried quite a few. This serum is light, not oily nor heavy, smoothing, does not make the hair unnaturally shiny and has a lovely lasting scent. The serum performed well on both my straight hair as well as my daughters curly hair. It also performed well when she used a straightener to straighten her hair. We both tried the serum on towel dried hair a few times and then on dry hair a few other times as well as on both air dryed and heat styled hair and the results were all equally satisfying. We would both recommend this serum for both hair types.

I first used it when I was a cosmetology student working in a salon. I was able to use it on all of my clients hair as a great finishing product to create that silky just freshly done soft look. Smells great and when the proper amount is used, it doesn’t leave the hair oily looking. It doesn’t weigh hair down but gives it a fantastic smooth, shiny, silky finish!
