What It Is

Design Essentials Silk Essentials Strengthening Serum is a lightweight strengthening and smoothing serum that easily penetrates the cuticle and locks in moisture during heat styling, leaving hair shiny and full of body.

What It Does

• Improves hair manageability while imparting shine and a high-gloss finish

• Gentle lightweight formula is perfect for all hair types (can be used wet or dry)

• Protects from damage during heat styling

1. Place a few small drops of Silk Essentials onto palms and emulsify.

2. Apply to hair (wet or dry) from ends to scalp.

It not only gives hair shine but, it also protects the hair from damage and heat damage during heat styling. It’s a lightweight serum that I use on ALL of my clients after a shampoo and good leave in conditioner.

It's in a serum form and you just squeeze about a dime size amount into your palms, rub them together, and rake through your length and ends. When you just have a little left on your hands you can get a bit closer to the roots without looking greasy. the result is more defined and separated curls, less frizz and lots of shine!

The hair looks healthy and allows movement after using the product. Great on natural hair. Only a dime-quarter size amount of the product is needed in order for you to fully saturate your hair depending on hair texture and density of the hair. Great product and last long.

It’s easier to add more than to use too much. But it does leave the hair super shiny, smooth and is great for heat styling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from impressed I used this on my clients who had the coarse texture that needed something to smoothe down frizz, add shine and promote softness. I have to say I figured this product was the exact same as bio silk oil essentially, it smelled similar actually but it’s thicker and more hydrating and doesn’t just sit on the surface. This isn’t exactly my favorite hair oils, I’m definitely devoted to my olaplex #6 and my olaplex no.7 bonding oil. Sometimes I mix them together, sometimes I just use the no.7 but this oil is one that actually penetrates the hair and doesn’t just sit on the surface. It softens coarse hair, from the inside out instead of making it feel more greasy with build up. I didn’t think this was a bad product by any means, but their formula isn’t anything new or innovative. The olaplex no.7 treats and repairs the bonds in your hair while moisturizing and hydrating split ends, design essentials isn’t anything to write home about. When I love a product I will shout it out, but this one is not one.

It smells delightful and isn’t heavy or greasy. It leaves a great sheen on the hair and speeds up blow dry time. Hair appears smoother and shinier! My clients and I love it!
