For people who have dry scalp, psoriasis, or actual dandruff, salicylic acid is a great option as an alternative to pyrithione zinc, the active ingredient in Head n Shoulders. Since ZPT is an anti-fungal agent, it’s primarily useful for people with true dandruff, which is caused by an overproduction of fungus. As a beta-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid helps to clear pores clogged by excess oil production AND other factors by chemically exfoliating the skin, so it can be helpful for those with dry scalps as well. Because peppermint and tea-tree can be drying, make sure to moisturize with a scalp conditioner after using this shampoo.

I figured a clarifying shampoo would help. This having salicylic acid sold me. Within a week of daily use it was gone! His head is completely clear and he has told me it’s the only shampoo he wants from now on! I have used it myself and I feel it’s a nice gentle clarifying shampoo that doesn’t overly strip my hair!
