What It Does

Biolage Haircolor is deposit only, no lift, ammonia free, no-damage plant-based hair color. All formulas are vegan and contain no more than 10 ingredients.

What Else You Need to Know

Biolage Haircolor is deposit only and does not lift; however is designed for and can be used on natural or previously color-treated hair with the ability to deposit various reflects, depending on the use of one or more of the 20 shades.

What's Inside?

Biolage color does not use any additives or fillers. Each potent formula is carefully crafted using the finest, traceable ingredients to deliver brilliant, healthy looking hair color.

 

Henna Leaves:

• Used to add depth and background color. 

• Harvested 1x per year in the Sojat region of Rajasthan, India.

• Purified for compatibly with oxidative hair color.

• Lifts out of the hair, no metallic salts.

 

Direct Dyes:

• Used for cool reflects that fade on tone.

• Less than 10% used in any shade 5 pure dyes hand selected for the best compatibility with herbal ingredients.

 

Cassia Leaves:

• Used to adjust the intensity of other colorants & add intense shine. 

• Harvested 1x per year in Rajasthan, India. 

• Carefully selected and purified to maintain potency Increases shine by 80%.*

• Lasts 20+ washes and strengthens hair.*

Coconut Oil: Helps formula mix easily to create the perfect texture, and provide smoothness and shine.

1. Cleanse hair with Biolage Clean Reset or Biolage R.A.W. shampoos. Color should be applied directly to clean, towel-dried hair.

 

2. Mix powder with hot water (122°F/50°C) using 1:3 ratio. Mixture will be HOT so allow to cool for several minutes. Depending on length and density of hair use 50-100g (1.8-3.5oz.) powder with 150-300mL (5.4-10.5 fl. oz.) of hot water.

 

3. Check that the mixture has cooled sufficiently by applying a small amount on your wrist. Wearing suitable disposable gloves, apply mixture with bowl and brush efficiently to desired areas.

 

4. Cover the hair and develop for 30 minutes. For optimal results, process under a secondary heating source (113°F/45°C). For maximum coverage: keep hair covered and develop for an additional 15 min without heat.

 

5. Massage and rinse until water becomes clear. Up to 2 applications in one packet. Always follow manufacturers packaged instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An ACTUAL Non-toxic Haircolor Option I really love this natural-based haircolor. I run a green-salon and this plant-base pigment is the least toxic haircolor on the market. It is different than conventional hair color. You have to know how to use natural pigments like henna and cassia to use this the right way. It does NOT lift. But you can pre-lighten the hair and then apply this; works well as a sort of toner. And it can cover non-resistant greys - the longer you leave it on the more coverage. If greys are resistant I find it can tone them so they look more like highlights, which is a nice camoflauge. I love using it with balayage and toning. It also really helps condition the hair and make it feel healthy after - so you also get this lovely conditioning effect from the natural pigments.

It does make the hair shiny , it smells good (some might not like it so much) I describe it as an earthy smell, doesn’t cover 100% gray but does tint it. It does darken hair and I have clients say how soft it makes the hair feel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst toner My hair originally was a level 12 bleached blonde. I wanted to blend my regrowth and tone the blonde. The only thing this did right was blend the line of demarcation. My blonde turned a unsettling yellow. I made sure to grab the cool toned lightest one. Wouldn't recommend using this to tone blondes. Maybe for a vibrant red. Most definitely great for color blends but that's about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blended gray I used 40g cashew beige and 10g carob brown. Had about 1” growth. Left on 30 mins with can and self heating cap over it. Cooled 15 mins with reg cap on. Color blended perfectly! Love it!!!
