Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dumb not smart I bought this dryer in August and had to file a warranty claim in December. Now the replacement is doing the same thing in February. It turns on by itself which is a major fire hazard. I’ve owned this brand before and I had zero problems. I wish I had just bought the same one I had before instead of upgrading. I definitely don’t recommend purchasing this dryer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DELAYED START ?? ANSWERS !! After experiencing the same (annoying and SO frustrating!) delayed start issues — I FOUND ANSWERS!! Turns out it’s your dryer telling you it’s time to USE THE SELF CLEANING FEATURE! — 1. Remove the filter cover on the back of dryer. 2. While your dryer is OFF - press & hold the power setting button on the handle (low/medium/high) for 10 seconds. 3. Your dryer will then “SELF CLEAN” by blowing air /dust /particles OUT of the filter. 4. Let it do its thing — it will shut off when finished. 5. Enjoy your good-as-new dryer and renewed love for Bio Ionic ;)

BUT—glad to see in an earlier review same problem—bought 1 year ago,,several months ago, it started delaying 15-20 seconds turning on,,,I have kept the filter area clean,,,yesterday, it started blowing only cool air. Not sure if I need to look for a different brand now. Was very pleased in the beginning!

Needs to be plugged in direct outlet for full power sourcing but still weak. 2. Smart filter that clogs. 3. Gets too hot. 4. Hair never feels soft it drys so quick from the heat the hair becomes straw like, not enough smoothness

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It turns on & “self cleans” Ergonomically is great, beyond that..not so. Would quit getting hot with my thick and curly(wanting blowout) 2-3 times. Diffuser kept falling on my client shoulder, and on top level speed could not blow off trimmed hairs, especially fussy youth from their faces. After 1/2 dozen clients complained about the “loudness” & “made my ears ring” I had to switch. I’ve always loved Bio Ionic tools, all I have used. Very disappointed in this tool.

After being told by bioionic that I’d have to send it in to be inspected by the warranty and that if they decided the warranty was void then they wouldn’t send me my item back, i decided It wasn’t even worth the hassle after seeing many fellow stylists deal with their customer service and get no help other than them keeping their item after sending it in.

The new one just went out for the exact same reason only 4 months this time. Returning it again, meanwhile I purchased another dryer and if this one works out the Bio Ionic Smart-x will be my stand by dryer. It’s a great dryer when it works, but unreliable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from grass ain’t always greener I was so excited about this purchase(June 23. I had the 10X prior but this one was new and shiny 😂 it worked great! Until it didn’t. Within the first 3 months it broke. No reason, just wouldn’t turn on. Got a replacement at no cost (Oct 23) now it’s July and the heating element won’t work. I clean it after every client. Store it safely, don’t drop it, etc. I’m bummed, I had high hopes.
