I believe they both work the same, it is just a preference for me. I like the thicker consistency, for more precision application using both bowl and brush and the applicator bottle. I feel as if I do not waste as much product when using the Gloss to Gel as well. The product doesn't get instantly sucked up into the hair, it glosses nicely and stays where you put it.

I’ve wasted so much toner mixing with this to try to get the toners dark enough but this product just does not develop. Even when I use the regular processing solution with the toners and 50% crystal clear, they come out darker than using this processing gel alone. I’m re-ordering the regular today.

Helps to brush and blend gloss evenly throughout hair. I now tone faster and more often at chair w this developer. Makes shades very gel-like with more stiffness than original liquid shades developer in bowl/brush.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I wanted to love this stuff When this first came out, I bought a bottle and I was so excited, I wanted to love it. I use Shades gloss as a lowlight and paint it in foils, and find that the regular solution is too runny, and thickener doesn’t cut it. But I realized this process solution wouldn’t come out as pigmented, even when processing for 20+ mins. I had to darken up a second time for multiple clients until I figured it out. I told our local rep about it, but seems like I was the only one with the issue that he knew of. But I’ve bought a small size a few times since to try it out and it still doesn’t process as accurately as the regular process solution, in my eyes…. My Only positive review for this, is that it makes applying much easier.
