I purchased this steamer after seeing it listed on Salon Centric’s website, which made me believe it was a legitimate, professional-quality product. I followed the directions exactly and used tap water as instructed, but as soon as I switched to distilled water — which every professional uses to protect their equipment — the steamer completely stopped working. When I contacted customer service, I was met with nothing but excuses and dismissive responses. They kept repeating that distilled water “can’t be used at all,” even though that was never stated anywhere before purchase. Instead of standing behind their product or helping resolve the issue, they pushed me in circles and offered only two insulting “solutions”: pay a 20% restocking fee or keep a steamer that only works with tap water — which is useless in any professional setting. To make matters worse, after all the back-and-forth, they refused the return entirely because I no longer have the original packaging. Nowhere on their website or in the product information does it state that the original packaging is required for a return. Expecting customers to hold onto a massive box indefinitely — just in case their product fails — is unreasonable and deceptive. This company clearly does not care about its customers or the quality of what they sell. Their handling of issues is unprofessional, misleading, and downright unacceptable. I feel completely scammed — and I would strongly warn anyone considering buying from them to stay far away. Save your money, your time, and your frustration.
